February 2007 Update 2 |
Crazy Days Ahead
Have you had travel delays? Has your computer went down? Do people seem to be angrier than usual these days? Many of us don't seem to be in the "flow" of things right now and this is due to an astrological aspect called Mercury retrograde. It started Feb 13th and lifts on March 7th but as we make it through this muddle of confusion, there's a few things to keep in mind. It is not a good time to start anything new. Because it simply won't work out. Also you should double check everything you are doing for mistakes and loopholes. Miscommunication runs rampant but Mercury retrograde is good for something; to review things and go back over and check for mistakes. Anything that you are doing with an "RE" in the front of it works well; like reviewing , refinancing, and recontacting. Things will be back to normal after March 7th.
We also have an Eclipse coming up!
Eclipses shake things up in our lives. They create needed change. This Saturday the eclipse is in the sign of Virgo, so it's energy effects Virgo, Pisces, Sagittarius and Gemini the most. Click here to read an article I wrote about eclipses...

Nice Letters We Get
Hi Maria,
You did my chart two years ago. So far it was the best astrological interpretation that I've received. Now I would like my lucky lottery numbers to play & win for the rest of the year.
Nancy
Hey Maria
It dawned on me today as I was picking up Valentine's day goodies that it's also the anniversary of your radio show "Affairs of the heart!" My how time flies. I love your show and am so happy it's still on the air. Meanwhile I celebrated Mercury retrograde today by getting stuck in traffic and being 20 minutes late for work. Ugh. The snow caused several accidents and I had calls from some people who were in traffic 2-3 hours trying to get home. Good times!
Maria,
It was interesting to me; your comments about how 2007 is a nine year. In your article, you asked what had happened to us in 1998? I thought to myself, nothing happened. Then I remembered that I had started a new job in November 1998. I was let go of that job in June 2005. Since that time, if I had to go to the East side of the Detroit area, I would have to pass the building with the company's name on the side. As I would go by, I would say "Have a nice day!" On a January 7th, I was running late and forgot to salute the building. On the way home, I passed the building and noticed the sign was down. Curiosity got the best of me, and when I got home, I jumped on the Internet and searched for the company's name. What had happened was the company was bought out and moved to another state. What I will always remember is on that day, I was moving forward to my new life while saying good-bye to an old destructive life.
Best regards,
Helen
PS What it any coincidence that I was headed East towards my new life while going West to say good-bye to the old?
Dear Maria, I received your answer today from the 1 Question Link on your website and as I read thru it, I cried like a baby. It was SO accurate about a lot of things. You have helped ease my sadness, and I full intend to get a full reading just as soon as I have the money. God bless you Maria.
Dear Maria;
I saw Kat at the last psychic fair you had in Midland and she was just great. She read me like a book. My daughter was with me and she was surprised by the way she knew things. Will she be at the one in Midland in June? I just need to know if what I'm wanting to do is the right path for me and that I will be successful in my job hunting.
Thanks,
Candice from Gladwin
Dear Candice - Yes, Kat is expected to be there! |
How the Moon Rules Your Life
At last, scientists claim to have found a link between our satellite
and human behavior - like how it governs the size of your dinner
By Roger Dobson
For eons, folklore has blamed the Moon for everything from lunacy to
bad luck. And, for the last few centuries, scientists have scoffed.
Now, according to new research they're not so sure. The Moon may not
be made of cheese, but it seems to influence a lot more down on Earth
than we previously thought.
According to new research, the Moon affects not only the tides of the
oceans but also people, producing a range of symptoms from flare-ups
of gout to bladder problems. It may even lie behind the causes of car
crashes and affect people's hormonal balances.
Having carried out new research and reviewed 50 other studies,
scientists suggest that doctors and the police even need to prepare
for how their work rate will increase at different points in the
lunar cycle. Among the findings examined by the researchers were
studies that showed GP consultations go up during a full moon,
according to Leeds University. Appointments rise by 3.6 per cent,
which works out at around three extra patients for each surgery. The
researchers did not speculate on the nature of the moon-related
problems or why they happened, but said that "it does not seem to be
related to anxiety and depression".
Gout and asthma attacks peak during new and full moons, according to
work carried out at the Slovak Institute of Preventive and Clinical
Medicine in Bratislava, where attacks over a 22-year period were
monitored.
Data from 140,000 births in New York City showed small but systematic
variations in births over a period of 29.53 days - the length of the
lunar cycle - with peak fertility in the last quarter. "The timing of
the fertility peak in the third quarter suggests that the period of
decreasing illumination immediately after the full moon may
precipitate ovulation."
A study in Florida of murders and aggravated assaults showed clusters
of attacks around the full moon. A second study of three police areas
found the incidence of crimes committed on full-moon days was much
higher than on all other days. And a four-year study into car
accidents found that the lowest number happened during the full-moon
day, while the highest number was two days before the full moon.
Accidents were more frequent during the waxing than the waning phase.
Another study of some 800 patients with urinary retention admitted to
hospital over a period of three years found higher retention during
the new moon compared with other phases of the cycle. Interestingly,
patients didn't show any other daily, monthly or seasonal rhythms in
their retention problems.
Even what we eat and drink is affected by the lunar cycle, according
to a study at Georgia State University. Researchers looked at lunar
variations in nutrient intakes and the meal patterns of 694 adults.
They concluded: "A small but significant lunar rhythm of nutrient
intake was observed with an 8 per cent increase in meal size and a 26
per cent decrease in alcohol intake at the time of the full moon
relative to the new moon."
While scientists have been trying to prove for some time that the
Moon does exert an effect, what has not been established is why.
Scientists have until now examined the theory that the Moon triggers
changes through its gravitational pull. But the latest research
points to an effect on people's hormones. "The lunar cycle has an
impact on human reproduction, in particular fertility, menstruation
and birth rate. Other events associated with human behavior, such as
traffic accidents, crimes, and suicides, appeared to be influenced by
the lunar cycle," said Dr Michael Zimecki of the Polish Academy of
Sciences.
"Although the exact mechanism of the Moon's influence on humans and
animals awaits further exploration, knowledge of this kind of
biorhythm may be helpful in police surveillance and medical
practice," he said.
The researchers also found links between the lunar cycle and the
likelihood of people being admitted to hospital with heart or bladder
problems and with diarrhea. The menstrual cycle, fertility,
spontaneous abortions and thyroid disease were also affected. Just
how the Moon could have an effect needs further research. Dr Zimecki
suggests that it may be the effect of the Moon's gravity on immune
systems, hormones and steroids.
He said: "At this stage of investigation, the exact mechanism of the
lunar effect on the immune response is hard to explain. The prime
candidates to exert regulatory function on the immune response are
melatonin and steroids, whose levels are affected by the Moon cycle.
"It is suggested that melatonin and endogenous steroids [which are
naturally occurring in humans] may mediate the described cyclic
alterations of physiological processes. Electromagnetic radiation
and/or the gravitational pull of the Moon may trigger the release of
hormones."
Whatever the root cause of the Moon's influence over us, its hold
over the imagination will endure as long as the shining sphere of
rock remains in the sky.
Only 12 people have walked on the Moon: the first were Neil Armstrong
and Buzz Aldrin in 1969, the last were Eugene Cernan and Harrison
Schmitt in 1972. But last December, Nasa announced plans for a
permanent base on the Moon in preparation for a manned mission to
Mars.
Construction of the base is scheduled to take around five years, with
the first voyages beginning by 2020. |
Anna Nicole Thoughts
By Maria Shaw
As many of you know I became acquainted with Anna Nicole Smith when I was a guest on her television series the Anna Nicole show on E! Network. I was invited to her home around the holidays for a Christmas party. There were many celebrities there but everyone was very down to earth and nice. This was my first experience meeting Anna Nicole although I had heard a lot about her. She asked me to give her a reading and most of her questions were about her love life. Her husband had been gone for several years and she had told me her love life had been almost non existent. She, like most of the people who call for astrological consultations, really wanted answers about relationships. I also spoke with her attorney Howard K Stern. My first impression was he undeniably and truly loved Anna. He had her best interest at heart More than just her attorney, it's almost as if she were his "life"
The thing that I remember the most about Anna Nicole was her joy for life. She was a Sagittarius and really lived life to the fullest. Yes, she had her share of demons to fight. She had her addictions and her issues. But she always keep forging ahead.
As soon as the news hit of Anna Nicole's passing, I was contacted by media around the country to offer my astrological insight into Anna, her life, her death and share some memories of my time with her. US weekly published by comments last week in their magazine.
I have been interviewed on the radio, by magazine reporters, Court TV radio etc. One of the thing I shared with the media was that even though Anna Nicole's life was described as a train wreck, she always managed to get back on track. If you look at her life, the ups and downs, the Playboy Bunny days, the reality show, the lawsuits, the death of her son and now her own demise, she always tried looked at things in a positive light. However, I also said that when her son Daniel died, a part of Anna Nicole died too. I believe on a soul level, she didn't want to go on. She wanted to be with Daniel. She got her wish. I cannot imagine what it felt like to welcome a new child into the world and then within hours have to let another one go. At the same time she gave birth to her baby daughter, Danny died suddenly.
Anna Nicole has always been fodder for the media. There's been many jokes a at her expense; some perhaps warranted, some not. But what I also have found this past week, is how much she was loved by millions of people all over the country. It's too bad she didn't know just how much. She is already being called an icon by the media. Many are comparing her to Marilyn Monroe and yes, there is a lot of comparison, as their lives are very parallel. I am sure Anna would have loved being compared to her idol Marilyn.
I think Anna will be more respected and even more famous in death than in life. She could become larger than life and when Hollywood history books are written, they will pay respect to Anna Nicole Smith.
Whether you love her or hate her. Whether your feel she had made poor choices and decisions, if you think she's a drug addict or a gold digger, there's one thing, no one can deny. Anna Nicole didn't give up. She kept the fight going for what she believed was right. Consider this with her lawsuit cases. She kept working at her career. She took herself out of a small town and because a Hollywood star. No matter how hard things became, she never gave up.
Anan is a Sagittarius and Sagittarius are ruled by the planet Jupiter, showered with abundance. People with this astrological influence in their chart, often live life to the fullest. They become larger than life. Sometimes bigger is not always better.
The bottom line is; whatever is revealed by the autopsy report in the death of Anna Nicole Smith, I will feel she died of a broken heart and I have to believe that she got her wish. She's reunited with her precious son Daniel. |
